10. Accommodation

Kicking off our top 10 most searched NDIS supports of 2016 is housing and accommodation. As a core essential of life, shelter is a universal need for all humans. Unfortunately, the availability of accommodation appropriate for the needs of our community does not always match the amount of accommodation required by our community.

Specialist housing can be in short supply in areas. On top of this shortage, the NDIS rollout appears to be driving some State governments to rethink their approach to housing. As reforms are defined for meeting the needs of people with disability, the hope is this will be done with the participation of people with disability.

With the NDIS operating as a consumer-directed model of funding, there is an opportunity for providers who get it right and listen to people with disability to succeed and provide a great support for a top 10 need.
